On Saturday 13th Jan we held the first auction of the year with 1100 of the most eclectic selection of lots to date!
The first one hundred plus lots consisted of despatch returned goods, unclaimed items and catalogue returned lots, some of which were, to add a sense of eager anticipation, still in sealed boxes! This genre of goods is a new addition to our saleroom and we will be selling them on a regular basis during 2018 in our general auctions.
Lots were as varied as to include light fittings, ventilation fans, stove tops, CCTV cameras, intercom system, water storage units, piping, disco lights, alloys, roof racks, trolley jack, gazebos, weight bench, electronic keyboard, radiators, window frames, petrol generator, push bikes, storm case, safety footwear, household cleaning products, children’s toys, office supplies, BBQ, lounge furniture, outdoor furniture, tool chest, ladders, lawnmowers, TV units, headboards, mattresses, beds, chairs, rabbit hutches and lots more interesting items. Prices varied from exceptionally cheap to over £500. It is worth keeping an eye on our website to see what is coming up in these sales as we never quite know what we are going to get from one sale to the next!
The tray lots sold well in this sale, more specifically the dinner and teaware with a Crown Staffordshire Henry Birks & Sons teaset realising £320, a mixed collection of Royal Albert Christmas Rose teaware made £300 and a collection of Royal Albert Lady Carlyle teaware also fetched a respectable £300.
The bulk of this auction consisted of a good selection of furniture, pottery and other antiquities with a John Baddley Tong mahogany long cased clock realising £360, a cast iron pub table with chess board top making £260 and a large Wedgwood terracotta vase realising £360.
The final hammer went down on the 1087th lot at 8pm and we really must mention our exceptional auctioneer who managed to sell the whole auction single handedly! Well done Rob!
