Role Overview: 

Potteries Auctions Ltd is looking for an experienced Auction Manager to join the team. The role will involve the day to day running of the auction house, managing of full and part time staff, preparation for auctions, auction advertising, marketing and administration.

Tasks: Customer Service – dealing with customer enquiries and issues to do with auction entries, purchases and general enquiries via the telephone, email and in person. Supporting the saleroom team and ensuring a high level of service is maintained. 

General auctions preparation – ensuring deadlines are met and all back-office, website, selling platform and marketing preparations are conducted. 

Marketing – on and offline advertising and email marketing. Creation of marketing and auction campaigns, overseeing the social media activity. Leveraging the Louis Taylor brand.

Staff – making sure staff needs are met and resources are provided for, staff rota’s, salary payments, and annual reviews. 

Website – Keeping the websites up to date and on brand, creating content, updating images, liaising with the SEO team, leading new campaigns. 

Quarterly Fine Art Auctions – You will be responsible for the fine art auction catalogue, marketing, and back-office preparation. This includes preparation and writing of content and images, liaison with the designers and printers, managing the deadlines and proofing, advertising, platform, and website preparation. 

Salerooms – Managing office supplies and ensuring office maintenance is kept up to date and any issues are dealt with in a timely manner for both sites.

General activities – managing the day-to-day activities of the saleroom and overseeing every stage of the auction process. Ensuring all insurance, policies, and compliances are up to date and maintained.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organised, professional, have excellent communication and collaboration skills, be friendly and approachable.

Previous industry experience is desired. 

Must be computer literate and familiar with Word and Excel

Good written English skills required
