Highlights from our December 2021 Auction

This Beswick Dunn Belted Galloway cow 4113 with prototype Royal Doulton backstamp was only estimated to sell for £60-£120, but ended up with a hammer price of an incredible £660!

Our final auction of the year took place this month on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th December and featured an exciting array of items, from mid-century furniture and 20th-century British pottery, to jewellery and rare collectables such as Thunderbirds and trading cards.

A very large collection of Brooke Bond, cigarette cards, trading cards and more

Our top lot of the month was this very large collection of Brooke Bond, cigarette cards, trading cards and similar including Clover, Lambert, George Payne, Golden Grain, Halpins, Glengettie, Barbers, John Players, Churchman and much more, including hundreds of themes and dating from the 1920’s. The whole lot sold for a very respectable £900!

This Penny Arcade Thunderbirds Allwin type Arcade Machine (left) sold for £520, while this Wurlitzer Lyric Stereo Jukebox sold for £500.

This large collection of Gerry Anderson, Thunderbirds and James Bond Signed ephemera and model kits sold for a fantastic £550.

As always, pottery pieces proved very popular at auction this month and we saw a large quantity of rare pottery, including figurines from famous names such as Beswick and Royal Doulton, pass through our saleroom and fetch some amazing prices. Check out some of the best performing lots throughout this article, as well jewellery, furniture, paintings and more.

Lot 232 featured the Beswick Beatrix Potter figures Benjamin Bunny and Pig Wig and sold for an amazing £550!

This 18ct gold ornate cross and chain, 25.5g, sold for £620.

An Ercol Windsor table and four hoop-back chairs

Mid-century furniture proved to be very popular this month. This Ercol Windsor table and four hoop-back chairs sold for an incredible £780.

A set of 7 Ercol mid-century light Shalstone style dining chairs

Lot 703 included a set of 7 Ercol mid-century light Shalstone style dining chairs and sold for a hammer price of £500.

This David Wilde framed oil on board, titled Nightshift to the Docks, found a new home for a brilliant £480.
