A World Record Breaking Bunnykins Figure Sold at Auction?

This Royal Doulton Prototype Bunnykins tableau titled Celebration Time sold for an astronomical £35.5k at our July Fine Art Sale

We were very pleased to have a special Bunnykins lot pass through our Silverdale saleroom recently as part of our July Fine Art Sale which sold for a staggering £35,500! It’s certainly the highest value item we’ve ever sold here at Potteries Auctions, and potentially a world record for a Bunnykins figure being sold at auction (don’t quote us on that just yet, however!).

The Royal Doulton Prototype Bunnykins tableau titled Celebration Time was originally estimated at around £100-£200, until one of our auctioneers spotted it and suggested that it was a bit more special than that, recommending the estimate be increased to £300-£600. By the morning of the sale, it had had dozens of pre-bids on it and was already up to a value of £3,100. Then, when the lot came up in the auction, it took over 8 minutes to sell, as the price just kept going up and up! The reason the figure sold for so much is that it’s a Royal Doulton prototype figure, which makes it really quite rare.
